Job Description

A reputable International School in Benin city urgently needs experienced staff in the following positions;

1. TEACHERS

Duties
Classroom Management Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a physically and emotionally safe environment for students through positive framing, kind communication with students and adults, and predictable, consistent routines.
  • Use classroom and behavioural management strategies that are positive, structured, consistent, respectful, and responsive to student needs, to build a safe, orderly, inclusive, and positive classroom community.
  • Use a wide array of data to make instructional choices and create specific action plans to increase student achievement, including dynamic student grouping for small group instruction.
  • Utilize an effective approach to behaviour management, time management, classroom organization and appearance, planning, teaching, and monitoring learning.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of inquiry and give students choices to show their understanding.
  • Encourage students to interact and work cooperatively with others and engage all students in activities.
  • Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance.
  • Respect all deadlines set out by the PYP Coordinator and the Head teacher and keep proper documentation.

Curriculum Related Responsibilities:

  • Plan Units of Inquiry and deliver lessons by following IB curriculum framework collaboratively with the PYP Coordinator and Single Subject teachers.
  • Plan, execute and assess math lessons based on the school Scope and Sequence.
  • Plan, execute, and assess language lessons based on the school Scope and Sequence.
  • Write and implement learning objectives that are challenging and measurable.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the IB PYP continuum are fully integrated into all learning including the Approaches to Learning, the IB Learner profile and Voice, Choice and Ownership
  • Prepare teaching and learning documents in line with the school policy including, but not limited to weekly plans, unit planners and portfolios.
  • Prepare and submit a weekly newsletter page for your class.
  • Prepare class for Celebrations of Learning as specified in school policy documents

Collegiate Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Head of School.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Take an active role in the wider community, participating in extracurricular activities, school trips, and extension activities as necessary.
  • Use all school resources effectively with appropriate consideration of financial and environmental impact of all decisions with particular attention to IITA’s commitment to build an ecologically sound future that takes into account the issues of climate change.
  • Be responsible for communicating effectively with external stakeholders as parents on the individual progress of students through all means used at The International
  • School of IITA. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for: report cards, parent meetings upon school’s or parents’ request.
  • Take on active supervision during scheduled duties.
  • Maintain confidentiality of privileged information about students, faculty members, and administration.
  • Coordinate appropriate and ongoing displays of student work.
  • Read and properly use the IB guidelines for PYP.

2. NURSES

Job Summary

  • The School Nurse would be in charge of the health care and well-being of students and staff of the school and also develop and implement health practices aimed at making the school functional and in conformity with global standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide health services to strengthen and facilitate the educational process by modifying or removing health-related barriers to student’s learning.
  • Identify problems and disabilities and provide such services as case finding, health education, referring, and care in order to help prevent serious health problems and manage current chronic conditions.
  • Provide basic healthcare to students in case of injury or acute illness
  • Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as proper nutrition and hygiene
  • Detect health problems in early stages through regular screenings
  • Update students’ medical history
  • Ensure school environment is safe for children and school staff (e.g. prevention of communicable diseases)
  • Write referrals for pediatricians and other health specialists.
  • Ensure compliance with national and local health laws.
  • Conduct routine temperature checks and screenings for all staff and students
  • Collaborate and supervise support staff in periodic sanitation and disinfection of offices, classrooms and school area.
  • Ensure all students, employees and visitors comply with the school COVID-19 prevention guidelines
  • Take medical record of visitors coming into the compound (e-copies) after peak period in the morning
  • Supervise the cleaners in the primary school and every office around/within the primary building
  • Consult with teachers, school administrators and other school staff regarding student care

Requirements

  • Must be a registered Nurse (RN) and possess relevant license
  • Minimum of 3 years’ cognate experience preferably in a school environment
  • Basic knowledge of diverse areas of health including mental health
  • Ability to work independently or with others
  • Ability to communicate well with others
  • Ability to assess situations and act quickly
  • Knowledge of state health regulations
  • Ability to multitask.

3. ACCOUNTANT

Job Requirements

  • Analyzing and preparing financial reports.
  • Day to day running of the accounts department and ensure compliance with accounting procedures and working with external auditors.
  • Daily maintenance of the balance sheet position & financial controls.
  • Accounting for the sales and collections, follow up for the timely collection from all customers.
  • Preparation of the sales report and detailed analysis of sales on a daily basis for management information and decision-making.

Qualifications

  • First Degree in Accounting / Finance or any related course.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a similar role.
  • ACA or ACCA qualification.

4. FRONT DESK OFFICERS

Job Description

  • Defining and implementing front desk objectives and procedures.
  • Hiring and training staff and managing the shift schedules.
  • Tending to guests’ complaints and questions and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Ensuring that the front desk and reception area is kept clean and organized.
  • Maintaining front desk office supplies and equipment.
  • Managing budgets, records, and contracts.
  • Supervising staff and all front desk activities including bookings, appointments, phone calls, and emails.
  • Conducting performance reviews with the front desk staff.
  • Generating reports and feedback for presentation to the general manager.
  • Performing administrative duties such as filing and updating records, among others, as needed.

5. TECHNICAL / MAINTENANCE OFFICERS

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead all maintenance processes and operations.
  • Track expenses and oversee the budget for maintenance.
  • Maintain all machinery to ensure it’s at working standards.
  • Create and implement maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems.
  • Plan and manage all repair and installation activities.
  • Ensure all department workers adhere to the safety policies and procedures.
  • Assign repair schedules and evaluate repair cost estimates.
  • Document and prepare daily progress reports and maintenance logs.
  • Oversee equipment stock and place orders for new supplies when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, facility management or similar field is preferred.
  • Previous managerial experience is a bonus.
  • Good understanding of the technical features of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge facilities machines and equipment.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

6. DRIVERS

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess an FSLC qualification with 1 – 3 years work experience.
  • Candidate must be smart, with good communication skills (written and oral)
  • Must be conversant with manual/automatic vehicles, a valid driver’s license
  • Must possess good driving & time management skills
  • Must have very good knowledge of Benin city geography.
  • Candidate must be agile/willingness to work.
  • Must live at the Sapele, Benin city environs.

7. SECURITY

Job Description

Location: Along Sapele road, Benin city.

Job Description

  • The Company is seeking to hire a Security Officer that will work with his team within the school located in Benin city, Edo state.
  • The role will be responsible for keeping watch of the premises and monitoring the unauthorized access, prevention of theft or shoplifting and enforcing the company policies in regards to health and safety in the premises.
  • This candidate is expected to work on Mon-Saturday between 8:00am and 6:00pm on a permanent contract.

  • Carrying out security checks on visitors, on arrival and exit
  • Providing a polite, visible uniformed presence on the sales floor

8. BURSAR

Requirements

  • Must have a B.Ed.  in Accounting or equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field
  • Must have immaculate command of English

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in preparing annual 1- and 3-year budgets which support school development aims and meet DfE and other requirements
  • Monitor all financial transactions and ensure best practice
  • Identify and inform the Headmaster and Trust Finance Director of the causes of any significant variance and recommend prompt corrective action
  • Propose revisions to the budget in response to significant or unforeseen developments
  • Manage aspects of school finances
  • Working with the School Business Manager to ensure the school achieves best value for money in all financial transactions
  • Preparing and posting the monthly payroll journal based on information received from the payroll service provider
  • Teach students accounting and related subjects

9. HEAD TEACHER
